Electronic Food Museum

Awarded to a pioneering accomplishment in the field of electronic/virtual museums dedicated to some aspect of food heritage.

Food History Exhibits--Temporary

Awarded to a non food-related museum or entity that has organized outstanding exhibits pertaining to food history and heritage.

Food History Exhibits--Permanent

Awarded to a non food-related museum or entity that has organized permanent exhibits pertaining to food history and heritage.

Festival Featuring Food Heritage

Awarded to a festival that emphasizes its food themes through exhibits, public awareness activities such as farm or production facility visits, and other diverse, creative public programs.

Food/Farm Tourism and/or Entertainment

Awarded to an agro-tourism site, operator or special set up, such as a Maize Maze, that entertains the public with food-related events

FOOD HERITAGE SITES

Food Origin Historic Site

Recognizes efforts to preserve and interpret to the public an historic site connected to the origins of a valuable food resource.

Farm/Agriculture/Kitchen Garden Heritage Site

Awarded to an organization that works to preserve and interpret for the public historic farms, farming or kitchen gardening traditions.

Food Business Heritage

Awarded to a food business that has demonstrated a successful effort at preserving and interpreting its history for the public.

Restaurant Heritage

Awarded to a restaurant that preserves its history and interpreted it for the public.

Culinary Heritage

Recognizes an academic institution's efforts at preserving, exhibiting & interpreting culinary history for its students and the public.

FOOD HERITAGE COMMUNITIES

National Food Heritage

Awarded for overall excellence of an entire nation in preserving its culinary and agricultural history and interpreting that heritage in creative and diverse ways through various private, public and joint ventures.

Regional or State Food Heritage

Awarded for overall excellence of a state, or region within a nation, in preserving its culinary and agricultural history and interpreting that heritage in creative and diverse ways through various private, public and joint ventures.

Community Food Heritage

Awarded for overall excellence of a community in preserving its culinary and agricultural history and interpreting that heritage in creative and diverse ways through various private, public and joint ventures.

OTHER FOOD HERITAGE PRESERVATION PRIZES

Individual Food Historian/Preservationist

Awarded to celebrate the work of an individual food historian or food heritage preservationist who has made a significant accomplishment educating the public on the importance of this subject.

Academic Institution or Scholarly Association

Awarded to an academic or scholarly organization for achievement in teaching and/or researching food history including culinary, agricultural or aboriginal food gathering technologies.

Farmland Preservation and Sustainable Agriculture Initiatives

Awarded for efforts to preserve farmland and maintain healthy agricultural practices.

Heritage Seed & Animal Breed Preservation

Recognizes an organization or individuals working to preserve heirloom seeds or historic domesticated animal breeds.

Humanitarian Organization

Awarded to an organization that assists people's food needs, while preserving their environment and food heritage. The organization we hope to recognize delivers food relief to those who need it efficently, with maximum return on donors' investment, while at the same time showing an awareness and sensitivity to the local foodways.

Food Heritage Media Awards

Awarded for excellence in reporting on food history and food heritage subjects. The media categories include: Magazine, Newspaper, Radio, TV, Film, Publishing, Internet Site and Internet Blog.

"Foodie" of the Year Award

This award recognizes individuals on a national, regional and local level who embody the spirit mission and concerns of The Food Museum and its Global Food Heritage Project. These are people who live to eat and eat to live. They are passionate about all things gustatory and spread their enthusiasm to others. They are also influential advocates for healthy diets and lifestyles.
