Welcome
to what we're calling the world's first "Museum of
Fat".
Here at The FOOD Museum we've been collecting and preserving
artifacts about fat for many years. We've been researching
the subject as well. It's one of our many museums within
a museum.
The
role of museums is to study material culture and visual
arts to help understand the past. We study and exhibit
the past to help inform the present and prepare for the
future.
So
we present here the history and social significance of
fat and being fat through the ages. It's a vital and controversial
subject, now being examined by anthropologists, artists,
historians, writers, and musicians. It is now a subject,
long overdue, for museums.
