Global
Food Heritage Awards Honorees
"Food
history is as important as a Baroque
church. Governments should
recognize this cultural heritage
and protect traditional foods.
A cheese is as worthy of preserving
as a 16th century building."

National
Food Heritage
France
The
people of France win the first national
award for their successful dedication
to preserving their culinary
traditions and history at all levels,
through national initiatives such
as Sites Remarquables du Gout, Sites
of Exceptional Culinary Taste, as
well as regional food-focussed tourism
undertakings. France boasts more food-related
museums and sites than any other country.
The French people's continuing love
of their land, farm and food traditions
is manifest in their support of countless
societies dedicated to promotion of
local specialites, their patronage
of local fresh food markets, and their
willingness to financially sustain
rural areas and quality food ingredients.
Here are some of the many examples
of French Food Heritage Sites.
