OCTOPUS |
|
The octopus is a member of the cephalopod class of the mollusk family. Its diet of clams and scallops gives it a flavorful taste, though the flesh is a bit rubbery to chew. The Japanese and people in the Mediterranean nations enjoy octopus dishes. Here Japanese children play with a beached octopus in a cloth calendar dated 1908. (Hughes Food History Archives)
